ACT Reading Practice

Many of my students experience HUGE jumps in Reading once they learn HOW to find the correct answer.

Students come into class completely confused and intimidated by the Reading Section. Many students feel as if there could be two correct answers or they believe that they are simply supposed to pick the one that they think sounds the best.

Erica Meltzer gives us the absolute best strategy for Reading with her Reading Bullseye as discussed in her book, The Complete Guide to ACT Reading, 2nd Edition. We will learn how to apply that to every Reading question, and we will practice it relentlessly.

More Tips for ACT Reading Practice

You have 35 minutes to read four long passages and answer 40 questions in Reading.  This is INSANE!  If you break this down, you have eight to nine minutes per passage. While the ACT touts that they are testing reading comprehension here, what they are actually testing is processing speed. How FAST can you read these passages and answer the questions?

Learning to use a watch properly and ensuring you answer all the easy and medium questions first is the top priority in the Reading section.
